Thanks to all of the fans, referees, coaches, and most importantly the players, who made the Second Annual Central Missouri All Star Games such a success. It may have been a bit on the warm side, but I hope everyone had fun. The seniors of 2009 are to be congratulated, they entertained the crowd with some great soccer.
Congratulations to the men's and women's 2009 Jon Strodtman Award winners: Emily Downing of Jefferson City High School and Mason Morawitz of Hickman. The Player of the Game awards went to west team members Forrest McCurren and Halee Ruckman, and east side was represented by team members Matt Brumit of Hickman and Mariah McClain of Jefferson City.

Despite the Pride U17 team losing in the Missouri State Cup quarterfinals, Mid-Missouri was still represented by three players in the U-17 Final. The out come favored Atagana and Nagel, with St. Louis Scott Gallagher I winning 3-1. Mason Morawitz (Missouri S&T/Hickman) who plays on the two time State Cup Champion, Springfield Soccer Club U-18 men's team did not fare so well. Central Missouri can be proud
Pride U16 and U17 boys both "left in on the field" yesterday in MYSA State Cup quarterfinal action. The U-16 team coached by Scott Wissinger lost 2-0 to the Springfield Soccer Club, and the U-17 team coached by Kevin Roderique lost 4-0 to the four time runner up, St. Louis Scott Gallagher. The two Pride teams have players from Jefferson City, Moberly, Sedalia, Hallsvile, and Columbia. Next action for an area team will be Wednesday. Pride Men both win opening games
Both Columbia Pride teams opened MYSA State Cup Play with wins. The U-16 team opened up with a win over Midwest Regional League and St. Louis squad, the Metro-Strikers Premier. After going down early 1-0 on a wind assisted goal, the team fought back to tie the game and send it to overtime. In overtime Andy Atkins came through with the game winner. Later the U-17 boys battled through a windy first half to a 0-0 tie. In the second half the Pride men took over and dominated, with the final being 2-0. Both teams play again today. The U-16 team will face Springfield Soccer Club, while the 17's take on last year's State Cup runner-up, the St. Louis Scott Gallagher White.

State Cup looms large for local teams
This weekend the Missouri State Cup gets underway in Springfield. Three Pride teams are taking on the competition in this one-and-your-done format. The Pride U-16 Boys lead off on Saturday, June 6th with a game against a St. Louis area team. They will take on an unfamiliar foe in the Metro-Strikers Premier squad at 11:30am. The U-17 Pride boys will play St. Louis Scott Gallagher Blue on Saturday as well. This 2pm game is a rematch of an earlier season SLYSA league game in which Pride came out on top 6-2. But this is Cup, so watch out boys! On Wednesday, June 10th, at 4pm the lone local women's squad, the Pride U-17 team will face the AFA Cougars. The teams are comprised of players from all over Central Missouri. The U-16 boys team is coached by Scott Wissinger. Both of the U-17 teams are coached by Kevin Roderique. One young man on the Pride U-17 team has already won a state championship this year in Springfield. Taylor Cox won a co-championship in the State High school golf tournament a couple of weeks ago. We will see if he can bring home another!

11/16/08
Tigers' season end with PK's
Not the way any team wants to end a game, but that is what happened to the Missouri Women's soccer team after 1-1 in regulation and two overtimes today. They came up on the short end of 4-3 PK's. A number ten ranking currently, a probable top twenty ranking at the end of the season, and a Big Twelve Championship are all pretty darn good!
Glendale puts a finish on the Jays' dreams
Three unanswered first half goals were all that Glendale needed to end the Jefferson City Jay's run in the state soccer tournament. Final Glendale 3, Jefferson City 0.
11/15/08
Tigers advance, will face Illinois on Sunday
Two first half goals were enough to push the MU Women past Evansville in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. After last nights 2-0 tally, Missouri will have its own border battle on Sunday. Illinois beat Memphis 1-0 earlier in Columbia. Sunday's game will kickoff at 1pm at Mizzou's Walton Stadium.

Spooky games before districts
The top two seeds in Class 2 fall in their last regular season games. Moberly and Helias were sporting one loss seasons before this week. Moberly lost to Marshall and now Helias has fallen to Springfield Parkview 2-1. Districts lurk around the corner. Class 2 was supposed to be all Moberly vs. Helias, and Class 1 and 3 were toss ups.......
Rock Bridge playing well heading into districts
A two one loss is never good, but one can take some consolation that it was at the hands of the #2 team in the state. Rock Bridge played well against St. John's Vianney, but loss 1-2. Thursday night was better to the Bruins, as they beat a good Rolla team 3-0. With wins over Rolla and Kickapoo, and a tough loss to Vianney, it looks as though the Rock Bridge team is heading into districts playing well.

Texas put an end to Missouri's hopes of winning the Big Twelve for the first time by winning 2-1 Sunday. Mizzou went scored first, but failed to hold the lead.

Mizzou Women down Baylor 2-0
The #16 Tigers are playing well this season. Last night they tied their single season win record. Be sure and see them Sunday at 1:30pm, as they take on the #10 Texas Longhorns.
Heading into districts
Helias and Moberly are the teams to watch in class 2. Those two teams each have one loss, with wins over some stiff competition. Which ever team emerge from district 7, they will probably go far. Classes 1 & 3 are a toss up. Lots of talent, but who will pull it together?

Art Firley Shootout promises great soccer this weekend in JC
Big names come to town. CBC, Chaminade, Blue Valley Northwest, and 2007 State Champion, Rockhurst. JC's schedule is on the High School page, other big games include Chaminade vs. Blue Valley at 4:30pm on Friday and Rockhurst vs. CBC at 10:45am Saturday.
Rock Bridge and Hickman face off against #5 Kickapoo and #9 Glendale this weekend
Big test for both teams. Rock Bridge faces off Friday night against Glendale at 5pm, then on Saturday with Ozark at 10am, and Kickapoo at 2pm. Hickman plays Kickapoo Friday at 5pm, and Glendale at 10am, Saturday.
William Woods Men and Women both win over the University of Illinois-Springfield
Successful afternoon for the Owls. Men 2-1 after two overtimes, the women handle things well in regulation 2-0.
Bruins over the Vikings
Rock Bridge wins 2-0 over Parkway North. The Vikings were much better back in the 70's!
Jefferson City takes it on the chin
Only allowing two goals in two games might not normally be too bad, but only if you can score goals yourself. Two 0-1 scores against Edwardsville and Lutheran South leave Jays wanting. SLUH Billikens finish off the Jays 6-0 in the final game on Saturday.
Hickman drops out of class 1, Moberly moves up to #4, Helias (#8), and Marshall (#11) in class 2, and Smithton gets one vote (#13) in Class 1, while Sacred Heart drops out.
